About Me
I'm Marigold "Goldie" Duncan and food has been important in my life for as long as I can remember. As a rower and national-level triathlete in my teens I learned that what you eat has a huge impact on how you feel and show up. Working with a sports nutritionist and studying Physiology at uni taught me the fascinating science behind it all.
Now a few (ok, many…) years later I'm a mum of three and I care deeply about providing nutritious food to see them through their long days. But I've found it increasingly hard on top of full-time work and the schedule of school, sport and party drop-offs! I've searched the supermarket for easier options but always feel let down by poor ingredients, low nutrition, and snacks that never fit in those bento box spaces!
So, for the last few years I've been baking when I can, sizing them to fit into lunch boxes, tripling the recipes and freezing supplies for the weeks ahead. I've roped in the kids and grandparents, and it's been a family project to experiment with recipes to find the exact ones each of my children will eat and enjoy, rather than send home untouched in their lunchbox.
I know I'm not the only one fighting this battle. The bento war is real, and every parent I know is stuck trying to find enough nutritious, varied options to fill all those tiny squares, day after day, week after week. Goldie's Good Bites started as my own solution, but it's grown into something I'm excited to share to help other busy families win the lunchbox fight.
